Safety Management System (SMS)
What is SMS?
A Safety Management System (SMS) provides a structured and systematic approach to managing safety risks. It brings together organizational policies, procedures, and practices to help identify, assess, and control hazards. A SMS aims to enhance safety performance, support regulatory compliance, and encourage a culture of continuous improvement and shared responsibility throughout the organization.
The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) is actively and progressively implementing a SMS to comply with Federal Aviation Administration regulations and to enhance operational safety.
Full implementation is expected by July 2027.
GOAA's Commitment to Safety
GOAA is dedicated to implementing and sustaining a Safety Management System (SMS) aimed at achieving and preserving optimal operational safety for all airport users. That dedication is demonstrated in our Safety Policy Statement, which is linked below.
Report a Safety Hazard
GOAA is developing a confidential hazard reporting system that will allow individuals to report potentially hazardous conditions or behaviors at the airport. This system shall be designed to safeguard the confidentiality of individuals who report safety concerns, promoting open communication without fear of reprisal.
